St. Louis, MO
The first Semi-Annual DJ Mix Off Competition was a great success! A nice sized crowd filled the Complex Nightclub on a Monday night to witness the $500 First Place Challenge. All contestants performed on the main dance floor under a video camera that broadcasted their every move onto the club’s video monitors and big screen as a panel of judges watched from ringside.
The event was very exciting and judging criteria turned out extremely fair. “It is great to see all of this new talent in St. Louis” said Howard Meyer, owner of the Complex. Judges were Ed (Faces No Limits), Howard Meyer (Complex), Glen Williams (Virgo Lounge), Marc Buxton (Legendary Area DJ), Gary Mac (Oz), Steve O (Velvet).
The contestants - DJ Adrian Fox, DJ Imran, DJ Pornstar, DJ Leon, DJ Spin Daddy, and DJ Kid Delicious.
The Winner was DJ Kid Delicious with DJ Adrina Fox as First Runner Up.
Stay tuned for the next Mix Off event!

Underground in Review
KING BRITT from Sylk 130 / Scuba / FiveSix Media
PLANTLIFE “When She Smiles (King Britt Scuba mix)” (COUNTERFLOW) One of the best scuba mixes to date transforming the funk tinged soul track into a dreamy trip into the fantastic. Filter bass, Spanish guitar and a hook for days... this is essential!!!
DKD “Brighter Day (Dr. Whodat mix)” (FIVESIX RECORDINGS) A super amazing mix taking this Dego, Kaidi and Dazicue Philly Soul tune to new heights. A two step soul masterpiece... old school 2 step that is…
SCUBA Feat. LIZZ FIELDS “Our Time” (SLIP’N’SLIDE) A very deep piano laden track, reminiscent of Tears For Fears meets 4 Hero. A beautiful vocal from the lovely voice of Lizz Fields... an outstanding accomplishment!

CERRONE “Je Suis Music” (MALLIGATOR) The pre-house dance classic from French superhero Cerrone gets the Armand Van Helden treatment, the original was a cool girlie disco workout and Armand doesn’t take it too far from that vibe, imagine yourself at Pacha in Ibiza and its 2 am... this should be the soundtrack.
ATFC “Shots from the Hip” (white) A ‘super party’ record with a knowing mixture of break-samba-jazz. It moves you with ease… and keeps the house rhythm with beauty. Of a very high level.
SHAPESHIFTERS “Back To Basics (Nocturnal Groove rmx)” (POSITIVA) No samples. This piece also sounds familiar from the outset because Simon Marlin and Max Reich have enclosed within it everything that represents house music: original strings and a return to real played music.
